If you kitchen is very big, black is just ideal as it will look chic and give a somewhat intimate feel to the kitchen. In fact, black kitchen cabinets are a perfect combination of utility and beauty. Match them up with counter tops, floor, walls and appliances of lighter color. This should enhance the stylishness of your kitchen. Sometimes, if your kitchen has too many windows, having a white or light decor can become pretty uncomfortable in the late evenings when you are unwinding after a long day. In that case, if you draw the curtains and have black decor, your kitchen will automatically get a comfy look that can again be brightened up the next morning by throwing open the windows!
Painting black kitchen cabinets is pretty easy too and you should begin by proper sanding particularly if the previous paint had a smooth or glossy finish. Make the surface rough and clean completely. When the cabinets dry up, apply painting tape to the floor, counter tops, walls and edges of the cabinets that you want to keep safe from the paint.
Use the bonding primer for two coats and let it sit for about four hours at least. Once the primer is dry, you can paint the cabinets with strong strokes and try at least three or four coats. This will again take about four to five hours to dry.
On the other hand, modern furniture manufacturers offer several maple and other wood finishes for black kitchen cabinets that are easy to put in place by one self.
